(NewsNation) — Albertsons Companies has announced a voluntary recall of five store-made deli items due to potential listeria contamination, according to a press release from the company.
The recall was issued because the items contain a recalled bowtie pasta ingredient manufactured by Nate’s Fine Foods. The recalled products include ready-to-eat basil pesto pasta salads and pasta dishes containing chicken, spinach and other ingredients. These products were sold across 15 states in various stores owned by Albertsons Companies.
Consumers are urged not to eat the recalled products and to either discard them or return them to the place of purchase. So far, there have been no reported injuries associated with the consumption of the recalled products. People with health concerns should reach out to their health care provider.
The recall comes shortly after federal officials warned consumers not to eat certain pasta meals at Walmart and Trader Joe’s due to similar contamination concerns. Listeria infections can cause serious health complications. Symptoms include: fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, and convulsions.
“Listeria monocytogenes can survive in refrigerated temperatures and can easily spread to other foods and surfaces,” Albertsons warned in its release. The company also noted that the FDA advises consumers to use vigilance when sanitizing surfaces that may have come into contact with the recalled products.
Any questions about the recall can be directed to Albertsons Companies’ Customer Service Center at 1-877-723-3929 during traditional business hours.
