(NewsNation) — Rocker John Mellencamp is opening up about what his daughter, Teddi Mellencamp, is experiencing while she battles stage 4 cancer.

John Mellencamp, 74, was on a recent episode of the “Joe Rogan Experience” where he spoke about his daughter, saying she’s “really sick.”

“It’s not f—ing fun,” he said, “She’s got cancer in the brain, and she’s suffering right now.”

The update from the “Ain’t Even Done With the Night” musician is a reversal of an update that the former “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star gave in October, when she said that her stage 4 cancer was gone, according to People magazine.

“Just to give a little life update to you guys, I had my immunotherapy yesterday and I did my scans and at this point there is no detectable cancer,” she said on an Oct. 3, 2025, episode of her podcast “Two Ts in a Pod.”

“When they told me, I was in such shock. I was like, numb,” she said.

Teddi Mellencamp diagnosed with melanoma

Teddi Mellencamp has been openly sharing her struggles with cancer since she was diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma in 2022.

Melanoma is the deadliest form of skin cancer, causing about 11,000 deaths each year in the U.S.
