(NewsNation) — You can’t say Jennifer Lopez doesn’t try.
La Lopez and her team crowed to the media earlier this year that she had scored a Las Vegas “residency” — in what turned out to be a few dates over New Year’s and in March — at the Colosseum.
And, according to my impeccable source, her team is said to have scored her a whopping $1 million guarantee per show — despite the fact that tickets aren’t exactly flying off the shelves.
“Tickets are just sitting there,” my source said. “She will get $1 million per show, but it remains to be seen how many shows she will actually do at this rate.”
As I reported previously, Lopez had had her heart set on setting up another home in Las Vegas — her initial hopes last year were to do at least a year in Vegas … but that dream came crashing down at the end of March 2024, when MGM canceled residency talks.
This latest move — and marketing of a “residency” — “is all about seeing if there is still any interest in her,” my insider said. “No one wanted to commit to a long run of shows after what happened last year. This is dipping her toe in, seeing if she can sell out not just over New Year’s, which is high traffic, but in March. That will be very important.”
Sadly, according to Ticketmaster, Lopez hasn’t sold out any date at the Colosseum as demand has not outpaced supply.
Lopez had been trying to recapture her “All I Have” magic — her residency at Planet Hollywood, which ran from 2016 to 2018, and sold out regularly, grossing $102 million.
But it has been a rough two years for the diva. Her movie, “Kiss of the Spider Woman,” was panned by critics and bombed at the box office, and she was reduced to touring in Eastern Europe and the Middle East, performing in venues like an Egyptian Hotel instead of arenas this summer.
In August, she was let go from her record label, and she recently accepted $2 million to perform at an Indian Billionaire’s wedding.
A rep for Lopez didn’t return emails.
