(NewsNation) — Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., said he plans to ask President Donald Trump to speak with Jeffrey Epstein accusers this week at the White House, though the administration declined to commit to a meeting.

When asked by NewsNation whether the president would meet with accusers, a spokesperson said, “They are only pretending to care about these victims now as they attempt to score political points against President Trump.”

The spokesperson did not answer whether Trump has received the request or whether he would meet with them.

Last week, Democrats on the House Oversight Committee released never-before-seen emails from Epstein’s estate. Shortly after, Republican lawmakers released tens of thousands of additional documents.

House Speaker Mike Johnson said a vote to compel the Department of Justice to release all files related to the investigation could come as soon as next week.

“I still hope that President Trump actually releases them. He could be a hero,” Khanna told NewsNation on Thursday.

“By releasing tens of thousands of pages of documents, cooperating with the House Oversight Committee’s subpoena request, and President Trump recently calling for further investigations into Epstein’s Democrat friends, the Trump Administration has done more for the victims than Democrats ever have,” White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson told NewsNation.
