(NewsNation) — Venus Williams made her triumphant return to the US Open at age 45 this fall, and now she’s ready for another life-changing moment: Marriage.
After being defeated by Karolina Muchova in the first round of the US Open singles tournament, Williams and her doubles partner, Leylah Fernandez, made it into the quarter finals for the doubles — drawing huge crowds along the way.
While Williams and Fernandez eventually lost to the top-seeded team of Taylor Townsend and Katerina Siniakov on Sept 2, they earned an extended standing ovation for their efforts and Williams left for London this week on a high.
Venus Williams is getting married on the Amalfi Coast
In London, she is seeing old friends and visiting a country estate for some downtime before leaving early next week for the Amalfi Coast… and her wedding.
I’m told Williams’ sisters — Serena, Lyndrea Price and Isha Price — as well as her mother will meet her in Italy to help her prep for her wedding to actor/model Andrea Preti.
The actual wedding is set to be held on the Amalfi Coast next weekend.
As I reported in July, Williams spent her bachelorette party on a yacht sailing around Menorca with several friends, her sisters and other family members.
The notoriously private tennis star only confirmed her years-long engagement to Preti in July — a week after her bachelorette party.
While Williams is mum on her love life, she is keeping it classy when it comes to work.
On Tuesday, just before she left for London, Williams wrote on X: “Leveling up with every match and feeling the love all around. An unforgettable @usopen—it’s always an honor to compete here.”
A rep for Williams didn’t return emails.
