(NewsNation) — Former “Love Island” contestant Cashel Barnett is facing new domestic violence charges after his arrest in May, according to reports.
The three new charges include assault and domestic violence in front of a child.
According to court documents, a woman, reportedly the mother of Barnett’s child, stated she got in an argument with Barnett in December 2024 about him getting a job.
During the argument, Barnett, 34, allegedly restricted the woman’s breathing and caused her to lose consciousness. Barnett then “sat her up [and] slapped her across the face really hard,” according to documents.
Police alleged Barnett raped the woman, according to US Weekly, and said the assault ended after the woman picked up a child, who was crying.
A police report said the woman suffered symptoms including “difficulty breathing, a raspy voice, coughing, trouble swallowing, neck pain, nausea, vomiting, agitation, amnesia, memory loss, visual changes.”

Barnett was arrested on similar charges in May, when the same woman came forward and said he had picked her up by her neck and stopped her from breathing.
Barnett is now involved in two felony cases and was ordered to be held without bail after the May 12 charges.
Barnett’s attorney, Andrew K. Deesing, told People Magazine, “Mr. Barnett is presumed innocent, strongly denies any wrongdoing and looks forward to his day in court. We’re in the very early stages of this, so we don’t have any further comment at this time.”
Barnett appeared in Season 1 of “Love Island USA” in 2019 and the first season of “The Challenge: USA 1” in 2022.
