(NewsNation) — Dax Shepard said he would pay to freeze his youngest daughter’s eggs if she wanted to have a family in the distant future.

Shepard, 51, was on his “Armchair Expert” podcast where he said he offered to pay for Delta’s eggs to freeze them when she turns 18.

“She said she wants to have a baby,” Shepard said during the Jan. 5 episode. “And I said, ‘When do you think you’ll have your first child? When you turn 18?’”

The “Parenthood” actor approached the situation with support, and he didn’t want to be judgmental.

“And she said, ‘Wait, no. 18? What do you think?’ And I said, ‘My guess is between 35 and 45 is when I think you’ll have kids.’”

He continued, “I said, ‘If you want to, we’ll freeze your eggs when you’re 18. I’ll pay for you to get your eggs frozen, so you don’t have to think about it.’”

Dax Shepard: My daughter called idea ‘crazy’

Shepard shares Delta, 11, and daughter Lincoln, 12, with wife Kristen Bell.

Monica Padman, Shepard’s “Armchair Expert” cohost, called his gesture to Delta “lovely.” However, the actor said that his daughter had concerns about the proposed age at which she would start having children.

“She was like, ‘No, that’s crazy! That’s too old,’” he playfully recalled of her reaction. “Again, she’s 11, so that seems like 80 (to her). She’s thinking mid-20s.”
