(NewsNation) — King Charles III is planning a multimillion-dollar makeover to royal estate that will host weddings and other events.
The King’s Foundation announced the $8.7 million extension at Dumfries House, a 300-year-old country home, in East Ayrshire, Scotland, on Tuesday.
The charity, which Charles founded in 1990, aims to build sustainable communities around the world through projects that will allow people to “live in harmony with nature to improve the wellbeing of people, places and the planet.”
The King’s Foundation charity’s headquarters are located at Dumfries House, which sits on a 2,000-acre estate, according to People magazine.
The space will be called The King’s Hall and will be added to the East Wing at Dumfries House, with plans to open in July 2027
The hall is expected to cater for up to 200 people and will not only be used to host weddings, but community and education events connected to the King’s Foundation’s mission, People reported.
The King’s Hall “will be a true testament to the impact of His Majesty on Dumfries House and the vital education and employment it provides,” Gordon Neil, executive director of the King’s Foundation, told the BBC.
