(NewsNation) — Colleen Hoover announced her new book, and the plot sounds somewhat familiar to the drama surrounding Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni.
The author revealed her new thriller “Woman Down” on Wednesday, which follows an author who goes to a remote hideaway following backlash over her latest film adaptation.
“Branded a fraud and fame-hungry opportunist, [Petra Rose] learned the hard way what happens when the internet turns on you. And she’s been uninspired to write ever since,” according to the book’s description.
The book’s announcement comes amid the ongoing legal battle between Baldoni and Lively stemming from the film adaptation of Hoover’s book, “It Ends with Us.”
Blake Lively sues Justin Baldoni over ‘It Ends with Us’
Lively sued Baldoni and his studio Wayfarer in December 2024 following a meeting in which she and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, addressed “repeated sexual harassment and other disturbing behavior” by Baldoni and a producer on the movie.
She filed a complaint alleging that Baldoni and his team ran a “press and digital plan” to destroy her reputation after she accused Baldoni of sexual harassment during the production of “It Ends with Us.”
Hoover, a New York Times bestselling author, has written many books, including the psychological thriller “Verity,” which will also be adapted into a film.
“Woman Down” will release on Jan. 13, 2026.
