(NewsNation) — There has been much online chatter about a rumored feud involving David and Victoria Beckham, their son Brooklyn and his wife Nicola Peltz, from wedding dress snubs to no-shows at family events.  

The rumored family drama begs the question: Why are the Beckhams beefing in the first place?

No Victoria Beckham wedding dress for Nicola’s big day 

Victoria Beckham, a former Spice Girl, is also a fashion designer, so many had assumed Peltz would be wearing a Beckham-designed dress on her wedding day, according to E! News. 

However, when Peltz and Brooklyn married in April 2022, she wore Valentino Couture instead of a dress from Victoria’s wedding collection.  

Peltz told Variety months after the wedding that she “really wanted to” wear a dress from her mother-in-law’s collection, but that Victoria “realized that her atelier couldn’t do it,” forcing Beckham to pick another dress.  

She denied reports of issues with Victoria, alleging news outlets “ran” with the story.  

Brooklyn, Nicola ditch David Beckham’s 50th birthday 

In May, Brooklyn and Peltz were noticeably absent from David Beckham’s 50th birthday party in London, where Tom Cruise, Eva Longoria and Gordon Ramsay were in attendance.  

According to People magazine, Brooklyn and Peltz did not attend David’s birthday bash because Romeo Beckham’s girlfriend, DJ Kim Turnbull, would also be at the party.  

Brooklyn had reportedly told his father he didn’t want to be in the same room as Turnbull, but David invited her anyway.  

“Brooklyn and Kim know each other from the past, and his family knows he’s not comfortable around her,” a source told the outlet.  

On May 4, Victoria posted pictures on Instagram of herself and her other children, Romeo, Cruz Beckham and Harper, from the celebration.

Beckham family drama allegedly gets worse 

Rumors of a family rift escalated when Brooklyn did not wish David a “Happy Father’s Day” or acknowledge David’s post celebrating the day, according to Buzzfeed.  

David also posted a picture of himself and Brooklyn, with the caption: “Love You @brooklynpeltzsbeckham.” 

Cruz Beckham, Brooklyn’s youngest brother, posted messages on Instagram in July seemingly aimed at Peltz and Brooklyn, after the pair asked the Beckhams to stop going after them in the media, according to TMZ.  

The messages included: “You’re a fraud,” “Instant karma gonna get you,” “Oh it’s Stockholm syndrome,” and “Ur dead to me.” 

On Aug. 2, Peltz and Brooklyn renewed their wedding vows, but David and Victoria weren’t in attendance, according to US Weekly.

“There are tensions between Brooklyn and Nicola and the family,” a source told People magazine. “The relationship is definitely not beyond repair.”
