(NewsNation) — A manhunt is underway for two suspects involved in the explosion at Harvard Medical School on Saturday.
At 2:48 a.m. on Saturday, a Harvard University officer responded to a campus building at Harvard Medical School in Boston, Mass., after a fire alarm was activated.
The explosion occurred on the fourth floor of the Goldenson Building in Harvard’s Longwood Medical Campus. The Boston Fire Department Arson Unit determined that the explosion was intentional.

The officer observed two people fleeing the scene and was unable to stop them. Authorities are currently searching for the two suspects who were caught on surveillance footage.
According to the Harvard University Police Department, campus buildings are locked after hours and only accessible to authorized individuals. It remains unclear if the suspects had access or potentially broke in.

Harvard issues statement
In a message sent to the Harvard Medical School community Sunday, the school confirmed that there were no injuries and that “the small section of the fourth-floor hallway where the explosion took place has been cleared and is fully operational.”
“The Goldenson Building will be fully open and accessible to all who work in the building. HUPD will maintain an increased presence on the Longwood campus,” the statement reads.
It was also confirmed that there was no structural damage to the building and that “all labs and equipment remain intact.”
NewsNation reached out to the FBI, who said they were on the scene Saturday but declined to comment further, citing the need to protect the integrity of an active investigation.
