(NewsNation) — New names are surfacing in files connected to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, after the House Oversight Committee’s released a new round of 20,000 documents and emails from his estate earlier this week.
The records show interactions with people across political, finance and media fields. Those communications spanned the years after Epstein’s 2008 conviction for soliciting prostitution from a minor.
The emails and names mentioned do not mean they are accused of any criminal wrongdoing. Here are some of the people whom Epstein exchanged emails with.
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor
Formerly Prince Andrew, email exchanges between him and Epstein show that they discussed an upcoming article from the Daily Mail that outlined Virginia Giuffre‘s accusations against Andrew.
He was given an apparent alias, “The Duke” in the email conversation dating back to 2011, according to Time Magazine. The two discussed how they would respond to the allegations and Epstein said he’d asked his lawyers to send a letter on the matter.
“The Duke” replied to the email, saying “Please make sure that every statement or legal letter states clearly that I am NOT involved and that I knew and know NOTHING about any of these allegations. I can’t take any more of this my end.”
A couple days later, Epstein wrote that the stories published were “complete and utter fantasy,” and added that he never met or knew Al Gore and stated Bill Clinton never visited the island. President Donald Trump recently asked the Justice Department to investigate Clinton’s ties to Epstein.
Andrew has previously denied all allegations against him.
Deepak Chopra
In a 2016 email, Epstein emailed the author a link to an article that detailed Trump accuser Katie Johnson’s account of an alleged “sex party” at Epstein’s home. Johnson filed a civil lawsuit against Trump, but later dropped it according to Newsweek.
Chopra asked Epstein if Johnson also dropped a civil lawsuit she filed against him as well, to which he said she did.
“Good,” Chopra responded.
In a statement to NewsNation, Chopra said: “I’m always cognizant of Dr. and patient privilege. However, in this case, I hope that all of the truth comes out after ongoing and proper investigations. I’m happy to share whatever I know with authorized officials. Otherwise there are only endless speculations without knowing the context.”
Landon Thomas Jr.
Epstein also exchanged emails with the former New York Times reporter.
In an exchange dating back to 2015, he told Thomas that Giuffre’s allegations against Andrew were “delusional,” to which Thomas said Andrew was “keeping the story alive.”
Thomas wrote to Epstein in December of that year that people were coming to him because they thought he had “juicy info” on Epstein and Trump, referring to a 2002 article he wrote for New York Magazine, where Trump called Epstein a “terrific guy” who “likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.”
Epstein wrote back: “would you like photos of Donald and girls in bikinis in my kitchen,” to which Thomas replied “Yes!!”
Thomas also allegedly advised Epstein to distance himself from Andrew amid the allegations.
Peggy Siegal
Epstein consulted publicist Peggy Siegal when the allegations against him and other associates started to pick up.
He wrote to Siegal in 2011 asking her to reach out to HuffPost founder Arianna Huffington to try and get the outlet to discredit Giuffre’s story, saying in part, Huffington “should champion the dangers of false allegations. send a reporter or reporters to investigate,.. the palace would love it…”
Siegal told Epstein to rewrite his last email “in better grammar” so that she can send it to Huffington.
Huffington later told Politico she was never contacted, nor was a reporter sent to investigate. NewsNation has reached out to Siegal for comment.
Peter Thiel
Venture capitalist Peter Thiel, who was also named in a series of files released in September, was found in some of the emails released Wednesday.
According to The New York Times, Thiel reportedly met with Epstein several times throughout 2014. The documents show Epstein and Thiel emailed each other in 2018, with Epstein extending an invitation to Thiel to come visit him on his island in the Caribbean in December of that year.
The island is the alleged site of sex trafficking and abuse.
A spokesperson for Thiel told Politico that he’d never visited the island.
Other people that were found to have emailed Epstein include magician David Blaine, author and journalist Michael Wolff and Noam Chomsky. You can see all the documents here.
