(The Hill) — President Trump on Saturday took his mounting criticism of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) a step further, accusing the lawmaker of being a “Republican in Name Only.”

“Lightweight Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Brown (Green grass turns Brown when it begins to ROT!), betrayed the entire Republican Party when she turned Left, performed poorly on the pathetic View, and became the RINO that we all know she always was,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

He added, “Just another Fake politician, no different than Rand Paul Jr. (Thomas Massie), who got caught being a full fledged Republican In Name Only (RINO)! MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!”

The comments also come a day after the president pulled his endorsement of the Georgia Republican, once a staunch ally of Trump, and suggested he would support a primary challenge against her.

Greene, in a lengthy post online early Saturday, tied the rebuke to her support for a discharge petition that would push the Justice Department to release all files in the case related to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

“I never thought that fighting to release the Epstein files, defending women who were victims of rape, and fighting to expose the web of rich powerful elites would have caused this, but here we are. And it truly speaks for itself,” she wrote on social platform X. “There needs to be a new way forward.”

Greene was one of four Republicans to sign onto the petition, despite Trump’s objections. She also called his pressure on the GOP to ignore the controversy a “huge miscalculation.”

House Democrats and the GOP-led Oversight Committee also released new files this week tied to the case, including leaked emails that suggest Trump knew more about Epstein’s relationship with underage girls than he said he did. The president has pushed back on the claims and recently directed the DOJ to look into Democrats’ ties with Epstein.

The issue of affordability, one Greene has also elevated, is also top of mind for many people as prices rise around the U.S. The recently ended government shutdown also added to the concerns as tax credits in the Affordable Care Act that keep insurance premiums low for struggling Americans are set to expire and after funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program lapsed for millions of recipients.

The Peace State lawmaker has also been critical of the Trump administration’s foreign policy moves, including providing aid to Israel and Ukraine during their respective wars. Greene, in a separate X post Saturday, shared a photo showing she has received no funds from the pro-Israel lobbying group American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC).

“This and the Epstein files is why I’m being attacked by President Trump,” Greene wrote on X. “It really makes you wonder what is in those files and who and what country is putting so much pressure on him?”

She added, “I forgive him and I will pray for him to return to his original MAGA promises.”

In response, the president wrote on Truth Social, “Marjorie “Traitor” Green is a disgrace to our GREAT REPUBLICAN PARTY!”
