(NewsNation) — The death of 18-year-old Anna Kepner while on a cruise with her family has been ruled a homicide, according to reporting from ABC.

The network said it obtained a document showing that “mechanical asphyxia” was the cause of death and that it was done by another person.

The autopsy and toxicology reports have not been officially released.

The body of the teenager was found under the bed in her cabin on the cruise ship, covered by life vests. She was on vacation with her family, including her grandparents, father, stepmother, siblings and stepsiblings.

Since Kepner’s death, the FBI has been investigating, with reports that the investigation was focusing on Kepner’s 16-year-old stepbrother.

Other reporting suggested an ex-boyfriend of Kepner’s spoke to her brother, who said that the stepbrother kept him out of the cabin after he heard shouting and screaming.

No charges have been filed in the case.
