(NewsNation) — YouTube has launched a new “Recap” experience that lets users look back on their biggest viewing habits from the past year.
“YouTube Recap uniquely highlights interests, deep dives, and moments you explored this year, based on your watch history,” the company said Tuesday.
Users will receive up to 12 personalized cards showcasing their top channels, interests, viewing patterns and even a “personality type” based on the kinds of videos they watch most.
The feature launched Tuesday for YouTube users in North America and will roll out globally throughout this week. Recap is available on both mobile devices and desktops. It can be found from the dedicated Recap button on the YouTube homepage or under the “You” tab in the user menu.
Music-related insights, such as top artists and songs, will also appear in Recap, but the new feature doesn’t replace the existing YouTube Music Recap. YouTube Music users will continue receiving their own separate annual breakdown within the app.
The Recap feature is similar to other end-of-year features like Spotify Wrapped, Apple Music Replay and Amazon Music’s yearly summaries. YouTube’s Recap feature will even assign users a “personality type” based on viewing habits, such as Adventurer, Skill Builder, and Creative Spirit, similar to Spotify’s listening personality categories.
Alongside launching Recap, YouTube also released trend charts highlighting the top topics, creators, podcasts and songs among U.S. users this year.
