(NewsNation) — Nintendo released the first images of the upcoming live-action “Legend of Zelda” movie Monday.
The company posted on X the movie is in full-scale production.
“We have begun full-scale filming of the live-action ‘Legend of Zelda’ movie in the beautiful natural surroundings with Bo Bragason as Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link,” the company wrote.
The picture shows two close-up shots of Bragason and Ainsworth, as well as a shot of them together in character, crouching in grass with a lush, green landscape in the background.
“Filming is progressing smoothly, so we hope you will continue to support us,” Nintendo wrote.
“A young warrior destined to protect the magical kingdom of Hyrule from the forces of darkness. The land is under threat from Ganon, a ruthless warlord who seeks the Triforce, an ancient relic said to grant limitless power,” the movie’s plot summary reads, according to IMDb.
The film adaptation is based on Nintendo’s long-running and extremely popular “Legend of Zelda” video game series.
The video game series has sold over 150 million copies, with the most recent mainline game, 2023’s “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom,” selling 10 million copies in three days.
