(NewsNation) — A Louisiana couple received a surprise visitor on their patio last Wednesday night.

However, thanks to the work of a family friend and two Livingston Parish Sheriff deputies, Bobby and Susan McKenzie didn’t have to entertain long.

According to WBRZ, Susan McKenzie noticed the alligator was on their patio area and immediately called 911.

She and Bobby McKenzie have lived in their Maurepas, Louisiana, home for 18 years without having a visit from a prehistoric beast.

“We see them on the swamp side, and we see them in the water, but never –  they’re usually not that aggressive,” Mr. McKenzie told the outlet.

It took the brave trio just 15 minutes to wrangle the alligator, tape its mouth and take it away. The McKenzies believe the crafty gator crawled through a hole in their screen window.
