Classified docs case: The federal judge overseeing the classified documents case involving former President Donald Trump is hearing arguments Monday on whether to bar Trump from making public comments that prosecutors say could endanger the lives of FBI agents working the case. Special counsel Jack Smith’s team insists the restrictions are necessary following Trump’s false claims FBI agents who searched his Mar-a-Lago estate in August 2022 for classified documents were out to kill him. Trump’s lawyers say any gag order would improperly silence him during the 2024 presidential race. The latest >
Zoom in: It’s not clear when U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon will make her ruling. Cannon indefinitely postponed the trial, which is all but guaranteed to not take place before the November election. In the case, Trump faces dozens of felony charges accusing him of illegally keeping top-secret records at Mar-a-Lago and obstructing the FBI’s efforts to get them back. Border report: A Texas migrant detention center that has the most detainees of any U.S. facility will be shutting down, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) said. The South Texas Family Residential Center, in Dilley, Texas, will be closing to save costs. According to ICE, it’s “the most expensive facility in the national detention network.” The facility is operated by Tennessee-based CoreCivic, a private prison operator for whom it generated $156.6 million in revenue in 2023, according to Dow Jones. 9/11 Families United video: A newly released 25-year-old video of a Saudi man touring the U.S. Capitol and other Washington, D.C., locations has renewed the anger of former CIA officer Tracy Walder. “I was very enraged to see this video,” Walder told “NewsNation Prime” about the footage shot by Omar al-Bayoumi, a Saudi man believed to have ties with Saudi officials and the people linked to the 9/11 hijackers. “This really could look like an innocuous tourist video,” said Walder. “But when you look at the subtitles and you look at what they’re talking about, this is a video in which they are clearly casing from a tradecraft perspective. Zoom in: 9/11 Families United sent NewsNation a portion of the video after a judge released it by court order. The group claims it’s new evidence that Saudi government officials were involved in planning the attacks on U.S. soil. The whole video totals around an hour, and at times shows a group of men, believed to have ties to the Saudi government and allegedly the same people seen on video in the U.S. with multiple 9/11 hijackers before the attack, pointing out landmarks like the White House, the Washington Monument and the Capitol building. The Capitol building, in particular, appeared to be a focus with the group. Watch >

What’s going on: A California man convicted of threatening President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris is expected to be released from prison as early as Tuesday, despite having a digital “hit list” and plans to infiltrate the White House. Kuachua Brillion Xiong, 27, was sentenced to two years in prison last Thursday by a U.S. District Judge after pleading guilty to making threats against the president and vice president. Court documents reveal Xiong claimed he was “called upon by God to combat evil demons in the White House” and believed he was “the only person remaining who can free the United States of evil.” Details of the case >
