(NewsNation) — Shopping in a supermarket is never supposed to be a “baa … d” experience, even when some unwelcome sheep make an appearance.
A flock of 50 sheep stormed a supermarket in Germany earlier this week during a routine seasonal migration in Burgsinn. Footage of the woolly creatures shows them filing through the main entrance before making their way through the aisles.
The sheep also startled staff and sent customers scrambling for safety on top of the checkout conveyor belts.
“It was impossible to tell whether the sheep were looking for something particular on offer or just wanted to warm up,” the Penny retail chain said in a statement.
The flock was eventually removed from the store but left droppings on the floor along with products and broken bottles throughout the building.
“When I arrived, they were already out of the store — and now they’re back with the flock,” the sheep’s shepherd Dieter Michler said.
Michler believes the sheep were enticed by acorns lying on the roadside and stopped to eat them during the crossing. The shepherd is expected to pay for the damage caused to the shop.
