(NewsNation) — President Donald Trump has invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to join the “Board of Peace” overseeing next steps in Gaza, according to news reports quoting the Kremlin.

Russia is “studying all details of the offer” and “hopes for discussions with Washington to go over all the nuances,” Dmitry Peskov, the Russian president’s spokesperson, told reporters Monday.

The U.S. has extended a similar offer to the leaders of at least a dozen other countries, including: Vietnam, Hungary, Jordan, Greece, Cyprus, Pakistan, Canada, Turkey, Egypt, Paraguay, Argentina and Albania. The total number invited is not known.

Vietnam’s Communist Party chief To Lam and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán have accepted their positions, according to The Associated Press.

A U.S. official, speaking on the condition of anonymity to The Associated Press, said a $1 billion contribution will secure countries a permanent membership on the Trump-led “Board of Peace” rather than a three-year appointment. According to the official, the money would go to rebuilding Gaza.

U.S. officials are expected to announce the full list in the coming days.
