(NewsNation) — Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly Prince Andrew, has been erased from plaques in the Falkland Islands amid ongoing scrutiny of his relationship with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Mountbatten-Windsor served as a helicopter co-pilot and helped defend the Falkland Islands, a British territory, against an Argentine invasion in 1982.

After the conflict, he returned to the islands several times to open various public buildings, during which plaques were installed to commemorate the events.

Now, those plaques have been removed, according to British outlet The Daily Mirror.

Former Prince Andrew stripped of his royal titles

In October, Mountbatten-Windsor was stripped of his royal titles and ousted from his royal residence by his brother King Charles III over his relationship with Epstein.

Scrutiny of the former prince’s relationship with Epstein intensified a few months ago when renewed allegations of sexual abuse came to light.

In her posthumous memoir released in Oct. 2025, Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre said Prince Andrew felt “entitled” to her and said she was given $15,000 for her first night with the royal. She was 17 at the time.

Giuffre’s book, “Nobody’s Girl,” details how she was approached by Ghislaine Maxwell while working at President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club as a teenager. She says she suffered abuse at the hands of many men Epstein trafficked her to and feared she would die a sex slave.

In 2022, the former prince settled with Giuffre for an undisclosed amount without admitting liability following a civil lawsuit Giuffre filed in the U.S. alleging sexual assault. She died by suicide in 2025.
