ROME (NewsNation Now) — A bombshell report released by the Vatican details the sexual abuse allegations against American ex-U.S. Cardinal Theodore McCarrick.

That investigation found senior church leaders, including Pope John Paul II, downplayed or outright dismissed the claims levied against McCarrick.

So, what does this report mean for the future of the Catholic Church around the world, but also here in the United States?
