(NewsNation) — Tens of thousands of people have been forced to evacuate from wildfires that have swept through the Los Angeles area, burning homes to the ground.

Organizations are already mobilizing to assist people who have had to evacuate. Here’s how you can help:

Red Cross

The Red Cross operates emergency shelters, provides meals and medical care and helps with recovery plans following wildfires and other disasters. Find out how to donate online.

California Fire Foundation

The organization helps support victims of wildfires in California, It also provides support for firefighters battling the wildfires and for the families of fallen fighterfighters.

People can donate to the foundation online.

Salvation Army

The Salvation Army provides grants to those displaced by fires and financial assistance for immediate and long-term needs of fire victims.

It also operates shelters and provides emergency housing for those fleeing fires. Donate to the Salvation Army online.

Wildfire Recovery Fund

California’s Wildfire Recovery Fund is used to help with the intermediate and long-term impacts of wildfires, helping communities recover after attention has shifted away from the disasters.

Americares

Americares is an organization that responds to natural disasters and humanitarian crises, establishing long-term recovery projects and preparedness programs for communities affected.

They plan on delivering medicine, medical supplies, hygiene kits and first aid to those affected by the fires. Donate here.

Best Friends Animal Society

The organization is focused on rescuing pets affected by the Los Angeles-area fires, finding temporary or permanent homes and transporting them there.

The organization is operating two Pet Pantries in Los Angeles — 1845 Pontius Avenue, Los Angeles and 7411 Chatsworth St, Suite #100, Granada Hills — that are open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. PST.
