CONNECTICUT (WTNH) — Some people in Connecticut have reported feeling an earthquake recorded off the coast of Maine Monday morning, according to data from the United States Geological Survey.

The 3.8 magnitude earthquake was recorded about seven miles from York Harbor, Maine around 10:22 a.m. Eastern Standard Time.

USGS’s “Community Internet Intensity Map” shows people as north as Bangor, Maine and as south as Leesburg, Virginia reported feeling the earthquake.

In Connecticut, reports were made mostly in Hartford County, with some in the cities of New Haven and Danbury.

“Today’s M3.8 near Bar Harbor, Main, reminds us that earthquakes are unusual but not unheard of along the Atlantic Seaboard,” USGS officials posted on social media.

You can report feeling an earthquake on the USGS website.
