Magnitude 6.0 earthquake felt west of Oregon Coast

Portland, Ore. (KOIN) — A magnitude 6.0 earthquake was recorded about 183 miles west of Bandon, Ore. Thursday afternoon.

According to the USGS, the quake shook along the Cascadia Subduction Zone under the Pacific Ocean around 4:25 p.m. No tsunami threats were issued after the quake but some along the Oregon Coast might have felt some shaking.

The USGS encourages those who felt Thursday afternoon’s quake to report it here. As of Thursday evening, a total of 51 people reported feeling the quake.

This is an area known for earthquakes, but typically small quake magnitudes.
