California DUI suspect caught with spider monkey in Rolls Royce

(NewsNation) — California police stepped in to prevent some monkeying around, arresting a man for DUI and possession of cannabis for sale.

If that wasn’t enough of a scene, California Highway Police also found a spider monkey, believed to be a month old, dressed in a pink onesie.

According to NewsNation affiliate KSEE, the man arrested is Ali Mused Adel Mohamed, 27. He is also charged with possession of an exotic animal.

Under California law, it is illegal to have primates as pets. Only 24 states allow such pets, with varying restrictions.

Mohamed was pulled over in his 2022 Rolls Royce Ghost after speeding on Highway 99.

The spider monkey was taken by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and has since been transported to Oakland Zoo.
