POWELL, Ohio (WCMH) — A woman shopping at a Delaware County grocery store found something in her bag that made her immediately stop in her tracks.

A woman told NBC4 that after she left a Kroger grocery store in Powell, she discovered a dead frog in her unopened salad kit.

The woman purchased a Kroger brand BLT with chicken and bacon salad kit at the Powell Road location and discovered the dead frog in the container once she got to her car. She said that she returned the item to the store, where a manager offered her an apology and a $100 gift card.

At that time, the woman said staff at the store had not yet begun to take the other salad containers from the shelves and that the manager told her an email to Kroger’s corporate office would be sent out. The woman sent photos of the found frog, which can be seen in the below slideshow.

A spokesperson from Kroger Communications and Public Affairs said the following in a statement:

“Food safety is a top priority, and we are committed to providing our customers with the highest quality products. We’ve been made aware of the incident and are further investigating this matter. Out of an abundance of caution, our store team immediately removed similar items from our shelves when notified by the customer.”

The Kroger location on Powell Road is one of two locations in the area after a new Kroger Marketplace opened last month near Home Road. Kroger’s Columbus Division has invested more than $390 million in new stores and renovations over the last five years.
