NEW ORLEANS (NEXSTAR) — With many dubbing the Kansas City Chiefs the new “America’s Team,” you might expect to see red jerseys flooding the stands Sunday at the New Orleans Superdome. However, early ticket sales on resale sites suggest there may be a sea of green outnumbering Chiefs Nation.

According to StubHub, fans from Pennsylvania have purchased the most tickets of any state so far, making up about 12% of sales. Fans from California, Florida, Michigan, and New York round out the top five. Front Office Sports also noted that fans purchasing tickets on TickPick were far more likely to be from Pennsylvania than Missouri.

While flying to New Orleans Tuesday morning, I spotted my fair share of Chiefs fans at DFW Airport. However, as soon as I walked through the gate at Louis Armstrong International Airport in New Orleans, it was largely green.

It looks like getting into the game may be a little easier, according to ticket resale app Gametime. The app reports that ticket prices have trended downward in the last couple of days. The lowest price for a ticket, a mere $4,339, is down roughly $2,000 from last week.

While neither team is unfamiliar with playing in the NFL’s biggest game, Kansas City has done it five times in the last six seasons. It’s fair to say the experience is a little “newer” for Philly fans, who’ve seen their team reach three Super Bowls over the last eight seasons. Super Bowl LIX is set to be a historic showdown, with KC on the verge of making history as the first team to win three consecutive Lombardi trophies, while the Eagles seek redemption after their 2022 title loss.

With the game set in the Superdome, a venue known for its strong home-field advantage, the Eagles could benefit from a supportive crowd as they aim for the upset.
