FOXBORO, Mass. (WPRI) — Rob Gronkowski is coming out of retirement for one day so he can officially end his career as a New England Patriot.

“I am signing a one-day contract with the Patriots this week coming up to retire as a Patriot and be a Patriot for life,” Gronkowski said.

The team said Gronkowski’s signing will be streamed live on their digital and social pages on Wednesday at 12:15 p.m.

The four-time All-Pro tight end retired for the first time in 2019 after nine seasons with the Patriots, but returned in 2020 and joined Tom Brady in Tampa to play for the Buccaneers.

He then retired for a second time in 2022.

Gronkowski ended his career with 621 catches for 9,286 yards and 92 touchdowns in the regular season, and he also had 98 receptions for 1,389 yards and 15 touchdowns in the playoffs.
