TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — NASA Astronaut Jeanette Epps let her Team USA pride show when she joined Nexstar’s Tracking the Tropics from the International Space Station this week.

“Do you have anything to say to our Olympians representing the United States?” WFLA’s J.B. Biunno asked Epps.

“I’d just like to say congratulations for making it to that point,” Epps said. “We’re so proud of you.”

“And we’re so indebted to you for everything you do for your country,” Epps continued. “It is not the same as being patriotic in the military, but it is very patriotic to perform on behalf of your country.”

Epps, as a member of NASA’s Expedition 71, is set to return to Earth in September, so she’ll have to keep up with all the Olympics action from space.

“Thank you for everything that you’re doing and good luck in the games,” Epps told Team USA.
