WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WGN) — Former Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler has been sentenced to four days in jail for his DUI last year.
Cutler was arrested in October 2024 in Tennessee after police responded to a minor traffic collision.
He rear-ended another vehicle and was slurring his words with bloodshot eyes, according to police. Cutler initially told police he did not consume any alcohol and then said he had “a little bit” when questioned further, documents obtained by NewsNation affiliate WGN.
He was charged with a DUI and possession of a handgun while under the influence. Cutler was sentenced to four days in jail for the DUI, and the gun charge was dropped as part of the guilty plea, according to the district attorney’s office.
He will be on supervised probation for a year, which will feature random and regular drug tests, and was ordered to pay a $350 fine.
Cutler’s driver’s license was also revoked.
Continuance was granted in four prior hearings up until Tuesday, court records show.
Cutler attempted to flee the scene after offering the other driver $2,000 not to call the police, documents state.
The former first-round pick, from Santa Claus, Indiana, was traded from Denver to the Bears following the 2008 season.
Cutler had a career 52-52 win-loss record with the Bears in eight seasons.
