(NewsNation) In a promotion that’s only happened twice in history, there will be free burgers served across Wisconsin.

With the Milwaukee Brewers defeating the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday afternoon, the George Webb restaurant chain says it will fulfill its promotion of giving away free burgers when the Brewers win 12 straight games.

There are 31 George Webb restaurants across Wisconsin. The restaurant chain says the promotion started informally in the 1940s when the founder, George Webb, hung a sign in the restaurant predicting 12 straight wins. The promotion became official in the 1960s.

The first time the chain paid up was 1987, when the Brewers won 13 straight games, and 168,000 burgers were given out. The restaurant chain gave away 90,000 burgers after a Brewers winning streak in 2018.

This is the third try for the Brewers this season, after having two previous 11-game winning streaks.

The Brewers have the best record in baseball after defeating the Pittsburgh Pirates 12-5 on Wednesday.

The date of the burger giveaway is expected to be announced Thursday.
