(WFRV) — Brett Favre is responding to reports claiming he has “given up hope” as he battles Parkinson’s disease, saying those rumors are false.
In a post on social media, the former Green Bay Packers quarterback thanked supporters for their prayers and concern, while firmly denying claims that he has lost hope.
“Not sure where this came from, but just like I never gave up on the gridiron, not going to start now,” Favre wrote.
Favre added that he continues to pray for a cure for Parkinson’s disease and expressed gratitude for the encouragement he has received from fans and followers.
Parkinson’s disease is a progressive neurological disorder that affects movement and balance, caused by the gradual loss of dopamine-producing brain cells. While there is no cure, symptoms can be managed through medication, therapy and lifestyle changes.
Favre was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in January 2024. He publicly disclosed the diagnosis while testifying before Congress in September 2024.
