Barstool Sports personality Cody ‘Beef’ Franke dies suddenly at 31

(NewsNation) — Popular Barstool Sports internet personality Cody “Beef” Franke has died at the age of 31 after suffering a “sudden medical issue over the weekend.”

A golf content creator, Franke was part of Barstool’s “Fore Play” podcast team, which shared the news on X, stating, “We are beyond devastated to announce that our good friend and cherished Barstool Sports colleague, Cody ‘Beef’ Franke, passed away from a sudden medical issue over the weekend.”

Barstool founder Dave Portnoy reposted the announcement and offered his condolences, saying, “You will never find a nicer more genuine person than Beef. It’s hard to even process it right now.”

Barstool personality Dan “Big Cat” Katz shared on “The Yak” podcast this morning that Frank was in the Dominican Republic for a wedding when he experienced the medical emergency.

According to Barstool’s website, Franke joined Barstool in 2025 and was a member of the Professional Golfers’ Association of America for 8 years, is a two-time PGA section award winner and “has helped over 500 students enjoy the game of golf.”
