LUBBOCK, Texas— Mashell Badley, 55, was arrested on Tuesday on theft charges after admitting to stealing more than $30,000 from her employer.

According to an affidavit obtained by NewsNation affiliate KLBK on Thursday, the Lubbock Crime Suppression Unit responded to Adobe Auto Sales at 1606 50th Street on Tuesday regarding an employee stealing from the business. Employers told officers that Badley had stolen over $30,000 from the company in just a few months.

Badley then admitted to officers that she had committed the theft and stolen $23,000 from two accounts over the past two months. She stated that she had gotten into a tough spot since moving to Lubbock. Badley also told officers that the money she stole was used for bills and “friends and family on TikTok,” as gifts, according to the affidavit.

Lubbock police found transactions and evidence indicating that Badley stole over $30,000 from the company.

She was then transported to the Lubbock County Detention Center and has since bonded out.

KLBK also reported in July that former Adobe Auto Sales manager Joshua Weston, 41, was charged with Criminal Mischief, Theft and Embezzlement after stealing over $200,000 from the company.
