EL PASO, Texas (Border Report) – Police in Juarez, Mexico, are investigating an apparent home invasion that ended in the shooting death of three men on New Year’s Day.

Juarez municipal police received a call around 9 p.m. regarding shots fired near the intersection of Rayon and Secoya streets. Responding officers located three bodies with gunshot wounds in an alley behind the home in the Insurgentes neighborhood of west Juarez, according to a police report obtained by Border Report.

A search by Juarez police and Mexican National Guard troops for two gunmen who reportedly fled the scene in a vehicle ended with no arrests.

Earlier on Thursday, a man was shot to death in the Escobedo neighborhood south of downtown Juarez and three men were injured by gunshots during a drive-by attack in Infonavit Juarez Nuevo in the southern part of the city.

Juarez, across the border from El Paso, Texas, reported nearly 930 homicides last year.
