(NewsNation) — A helicopter has crashed in the mountains of Arizona with four people on board.

The condition of the individuals is currently unknown.

According to the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office, they received reports of a crash in the mountains near Telegraph Canyon, south of Superior, 64 miles west of Phoenix, around 11 a.m. local time.

The private helicopter departed from Queen Creek, Arizona, and authorities are attempting to access the “remote crash site.”

Both the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board have taken over the investigation.

A temporary flight restriction has been issued by the FAA over the area for safety reasons, the sheriff’s office said.

The FAA noted the helicopter was designated MD 369FF.

“The NTSB is investigating the Jan. 2 crash of an MD Helicopters 369FF near Superior, Arizona. An NTSB investigator is expected to arrive on scene tomorrow,” the agency said.
