AUSTIN, Texas (KXAN) — A grandfather and grandson fatally shot each other after an argument escalated at a southwest Austin home Monday, according to the Austin Police Department.

Austin Police identified the victims in the double homicide as Charles Wagnon, 79, and Trevor Shepherd, 20. They were both pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

At 5:19 p.m. officers responded to a shooting at the 10400 block of O’Rourk Lane. According to police, a woman reported her son and her father were inside the home.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found Wagnon and Shepherd with gunshot wounds. Prior to the shooting, evidence revealed Wagnon and Shepherd were arguing before it escalated, police said.

APD, emergency services and the Austin Fire Department attempted life-saving measures but were unsuccessful.

Austin Police said there is no known threat to the public. This incident marks Austin’s 53rd and 54th homicide of 2025.
