RICHMOND, Virginia (WJW) — A Virginia woman said she “almost passed out” after winning thousands of dollars from lottery tickets she found in her closet.

According to the Virginia Lottery, Alfreda Hawkins was cleaning her house recently when she found a box of lottery tickets in her closet.

Hawkins removed the tickets from the box and started scratching them off, realizing she won $100,000 on an Extreme Cash game.

“It was amazing,” Hawkins told Virginia Lottery officials in a press release last week.

The lucky winner purchased the ticket from a Shop & Go convenience store in Richmond.

Hawkins told lottery officials that she doesn’t have immediate plans for the winnings.

According to the Virginia Lottery, this was the final top prize available for the Extreme Cash scratch-off game.

Meanwhile, the Mega Millions jackpot sits at $520 million and the Powerball jackpot sits at $174 million.
