SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – A woman is suffering from serious injuries after a man intentionally scalded her with hot coffee.

On May 30, 2025, around 2:00 p.m., Shreveport Police officers responded to a disturbance call at a hotel located in the 5100 block of Interstate Drive.

Upon arrival, officers learned that a man, later identified as Kenneth Smart, refused to leave the premises after being asked to do so by a woman who was working at the front desk.

During the confrontation, Smart allegedly made a cup of hot coffee and threw it on the clerk, causing significant burns to her chest and face.

Following an investigation, Smart was arrested and booked on charges of Second Degree Battery and Entering and Remaining After Being Forbidden.

The victim was treated for injuries sustained in the assault.
