(NewsNation) — The crews on a pair of Delta flights departing from Atlanta reported smoke in the flight deck of both aircrafts Monday, leading to separate emergency landings.
Delta Flight 876 from Atlanta to Columbia, South Carolina, returned to the Atlanta airport after a haze was seen inside the flight deck. The pilots declared an emergency to get priority clearance to land.
The Boeing 717 landed safely, and slides were deployed to allow the 94 passengers, two pilots and three flight attendants to exit the plane. They were being taken to the terminal by ground transport.
In a statement, the FAA said the flight returned around 9 a.m. ET, and the agency will investigate the incident.
Meanwhile, Delta Flight 1882 from Atlanta to San Juan, Puerto Rico, landed safely at its destination after the crew detected a smoky odor, Delta said.
The crew of the Boeing 767 declared an emergency before landing, and all 206 customers, the two pilots and six flight attendants deplaned as normal.
These are the most recent incidents involving a Delta flight in two weeks.
Earlier this month, a Delta plane flipped over on landing at the Toronto airport. It comes amid a string of crashes and emergencies involving planes since the start of 2025.
