(NewsNation) — Actress Francia Raísa is once again addressing rumors she had a falling out with Selena Gomez after she donated to the singer nearly a decade ago.
In an interview with Univision’s “Primer Impacto” days before Gomez’s wedding to music producer Benny Blanco, Raísa shut down talks about the rumors about their relationship.
“Right now, what you’re asking me is nonsense. … There are too many rumors.”
She added, “When that rumor came out that I had gotten angry or something because Selena was smoking, I wasn’t aware of those rumors.”
The “Black-ish” actor said, “What you’re asking me are rumors. No one knows what’s going on, and neither she nor I are talking about it. One day, maybe we will address it.”
Francia Raísa donated kidney to Selena Gomez
Raísa donated a kidney to Gomez, who suffers from lupus, in 2017.
At the time, Gomez posted on social media a picture of her and Raísa in hospital beds holding hands, writing, “She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me,” she wrote. “I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis.”
Raísa’s father, Renán Almendárez Coello, said the reason his daughter didn’t appear in Gomez’s 2023 documentary was because of a disagreement the two had, hinting that it’s because of Gomez’s drinking, according to Page Six.
“There’s a difference when Selena is drinking,” Coello told Primer Impacto in 2022. “Francia told Selena that she didn’t give her the kidney so she could go out and drink.”
Francia Raísa on Selena Gomez’s friendship comment involving Taylor Swift
In an interview with Rolling Stone in November 2022, “The Wizards of Waverly Place” alum said her “only friend in the industry” was Taylor Swift.
“I never fit in with a cool group of girls that were celebrities. My only friend in the industry really is Taylor [Swift], so I remember feeling like I didn’t belong,” Gomez said.
Under an Instagram post about the comment, Raísa wrote and then deleted the word “interesting,” according to Page Six, sparking rumors of tension between the two.
Selena Gomez publicly thanks Francia Raísa
In 2023, Gomez called the “How I Met Your Father” star her “best friend” and was in debt to the actor for the donation.
According to Page Six, Raísa did not attend “The Only Murders in the Building” star’s Sept. 27 wedding, which included Swift, Martin Short, Steve Martin, Paul Rudd, Nina Dobrev and Ed Sheeran.
She said she was “very happy” about Gomez’s marriage.
“She has a life, and she is already a billionaire and I am grateful that I could do that for her,” Raísa said of the transplant.
