(NewsNation) — Certain raw frozen shrimp products sold in Walmart under the Great Value brand have been recalled after Cesium-137 (Cs-137) was detected in shipping containers at four U.S. ports, according to the FDA.

U.S. Customs & Border Protection alerted the FDA to the presence of Cs-137 in shipping containers in Los Angeles, Houston, Miami and Savannah.

The FDA tested for radioactive materials and detected Cs-137 in one sample of the shrimp. Although the level of Cs-137 found does not present an “acute hazard” to consumers, prolonged consumption could increase the risk of cancer over time.

The affected products have not entered U.S. commerce; however, “the product appears to have been prepared, packed, or held under insanitary conditions whereby it may have become contaminated with Cs-137 and may pose a safety concern,” according to the FDA.

The FDA advises consumers who recently purchased the product from Walmart to throw it away.

The products were processed by PT. Bahari Makmur Sejati of Indonesia.

The affected products are:

  • Great Value brand frozen raw shrimp, lot code: 8005540-1, Best by Date: 3/15/2027
  • Great Value brand frozen raw shrimp, lot code: 8005538-1, Best by Date: 3/15/2027
