(NewsNation) — A Georgia-based company is recalling nearly 14,000 pounds of ready-to-eat grilled chicken breast that may be contaminated with the bacteria Listeria monocytogenes, according to the USDA.

Suzanna’s Kitchen sold the chicken in 10-pound cases in seven states: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Missouri, New Hampshire, North Carolina and Ohio.

The cases — sold to food service operators, not customers — contained two five-pound bags of chicken fillets.

Affected chicken has:

  • Lot Code: 60104 P1382 287 5 J14
  • Establishment Number: P-1382
  • Production date: Oct. 14, 2025

No illnesses have been reported yet.

What is listeria? What are listeria symptoms?

Those who eat food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes can get listeriosis, or listeria. It’s a serious infection that sickens an estimated 1,250 people each year, with 172 dying from it, according to the CDC.

Symptoms of listeria include fever, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, seizures, diarrhea and vomiting.

The infection is especially dangerous for those who are pregnant, have weakened immune systems or are 65 years or older.

Anyone who believes they might have eaten the affected chicken should contact a healthcare provider.
