(NewsNation) — A widely used laundry detergent is being recalled due to the potential risk of exposure to bacteria that could cause illness.
A voluntary recall was issued by manufacturer Reckett relating to Woolite Delicates Detergent, a product exclusively sold on Amazon. The recall relates to its 50-fluid-ounce bottles and approximately 16,200 units, per the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) release.
“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled Woolite Delicates detergent with lot codes S24364, S24365 and S24366 and contact Reckitt for a full refund,” the CPSC release said.
The affected products may contain a bacteria called Pseudomonas oleovorans, which can cause serious infection in those with weakened immune systems.
Individuals with healthy immune systems are not expected to be affected.
Customers will receive a refund.
“To receive a refund, consumers should write their name and “Recalled” in permanent marker on the back of the product, then take a photo with the UPC and lot code visible, and email the photo to ConsumerCare_USA@reckitt.com.
