(NewsNation) — Grocery retailer Meijer has voluntarily recalled more than 38,000 gallons of water that could contain a “floating black foreign substance.”
The affected water was sold in gallon-size jugs of distilled water with red caps, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
The substance has not been identified, and no details have been released about its health effects.
The water was sold in six states: Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan and Wisconsin. The recall was initiated on Nov. 13, 2025.
It includes water with a:
- Sell by date of Oct. 4, 2026.
- UPC number of 041250841197.
- Lot code of 39-222 #3.
- Product ID of 472859.
- Meijer item code of 477910.
No injuries or health issues have been reported in connection to the recalled water.
