Recall: Green beans sold at Target may be contaminated

(NEXSTAR) — Del Monte Foods is recalling 8,242 cases of its green beans, which were sold at Target stores across multiple states. The recall was initiated over concerns the product may be contaminated with an unspecified foreign object.

According to the recall posted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the recall involves about 197,808 cans of Good & Gather Cut Green Beans.

Here’s how to identify the recalled beans.

  • Good & Gather brand
  • Size: Net wt. 14.5 oz (411 g)
  • UPC: 0 85239-11628 9
  • Best if Used By Date: 28 OCT 2026
  • Lot: 7AA 418507

The green beans were sold at Target stores in the following states:

  • Alabama
  • Arizona
  • California
  • Colorado
  • Georgia
  • Iowa
  • Illinois
  • Indiana
  • Kansas
  • Missouri
  • Minnesota
  • North Carolina
  • New Jersey
  • New York
  • Ohio
  • Oregon
  • Pennsylvania
  • South Carolina
  • Texas
  • Virginia
  • Wisconsin

The FDA lists this as a class II recall, in which use or exposure to a product “may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”

So far, Del Monte and Target have not issued guidance for customers who have purchased the recalled items. For more information and/or concerns, contact the U.S. FDA.
