(NewsNation) — Costco has issued another recall warning customers that bottles of its popular Kirkland prosecco can break or shatter.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission reports that 941,000 bottles of Costco’s Kirkland Signature Valdobbiadene Prosecco DOCG are being recalled, nearly two months after the wholesale chain issued a similar product safety notice.
F&F Fine Wines International, Inc., which imports and distributes the wine, received 10 reports of bottles breaking or shattering, resulting in one injury, according to the notice.
The recall is a follow-up to the initial recall issued in September, F&F Wines said, which warned customers that prosecco bottles posed a risk of “unopened bottles shattering, even when not handled or in use.”
The sparkling wine was sold from April 2025 through August 2025 at Costco stores in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
The item ID is 196633883742, and the Costco item number is 1879870.

Those who purchased the wine are urged to stop using the bottle immediately.
In its initial notice, Costco also advised customers to dispose of their bottles immediately by wrapping the unopened wine in paper towels, placing it in a plastic bag, and then putting it in the garbage — to “avoid risk from shattered glass.”
Those who purchased a bottle are entitled to a full refund by contacting Ethica Wines at customercare@ethicawines.com.
