NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) — Speaking for the first time as New York City mayor, Zohran Mamdani warned New Yorkers the work has just begun.
On Thursday, Mamdani was publicly sworn in on the steps of City Hall by Senator Bernie Sanders, a campaign ally and strong political influence. He was previously sworn in during a private ceremony in a historic subway station just before midnight.
In his first address to New Yorkers, Mamdani said he refuses to reduce expectations of him after an ambitious campaign platform.
”We will transform the culture at City Hall from one of no to one of how,” Mamdani said. “The only expectation I seek to reset is that of small expectations. Beginning today, we will govern expansively and audaciously.”
