STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (PIX11) — A 19-year-old man is accused of decapitating his stepfather with a hacksaw in their New Jersey home Monday, according to police and sources.

Damien Hurstel was charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the 45-year-old man’s death, police said Tuesday.

The suspect is currently in the hospital after suffering a medical episode, police said. Hurstel is expected to be arraigned in court on Tuesday afternoon.

The victim was found in a bathtub with multiple stab wounds to his head and neck in their Staten Island home around 4:30 p.m., according to sources. Sources said a 16-year-old girl made the gruesome discovery and called 911.

The motive remained unclear. Sources said the victim’s wife and the suspect had filed numerous domestic violence complaints against him.

Police said Hurstel has no prior arrests and no history of being emotionally disturbed.

The victim, a retired Department of Sanitation worker, has not been identified.
